Terms of use
Using this site or its API means you accept these terms. I wrote them myself, without a lawyer, so they’re short. Use it for anything lawful, and don’t make it worse for the next person.
No warranty
The labels are the manufacturers’ documents, served as they publish them. I don’t edit them and can’t vouch for them: if a price or an option is wrong on the label, it’s wrong in the manufacturer’s copy too. For Nissan and Infiniti the label is Nissan’s own copy, stamped “Unofficial Copy”, and that’s what you get. The decoded specification is NHTSA’s, and it’s only as right as NHTSA’s data.
A window sticker says how a car left the factory, not what’s happened to it since. Don’t buy or sell a car on the sticker alone. The site and the API come as they are, with no warranty of any kind, and either can lose a make or go down without notice. The status page shows which makes worked at the last check.
Not affiliated
This site isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by any vehicle manufacturer or dealer platform. That includes the dealer-website platform whose service supplies Toyota, Lexus, Nissan and Infiniti labels. Make names appear only to say which vehicles a label is for.
The API
It’s free and needs no key. Each IP address gets 10 requests every 10 seconds under /api/; past that, it’s blocked for 10 seconds. A repeat lookup of the same VIN comes from a cache and costs nothing. A new VIN doesn’t, so please don’t work through VINs at speed.
For Toyota, Lexus, Nissan and Infiniti the API returns only labels already on file. New ones are fetched only when a person opens a result page, at most 30 a day across all four makes, so the service they come from isn’t overloaded. Don’t script result pages to get around that.
Say who you are. Send an X-Contact header with an email address or a domain, and I’ll warn you before anything breaking ships. The API page has the details.
The PDFs
Don’t bulk-harvest them: no working through lists of VINs to copy the archive, and no scraping result pages for labels. Don’t resell them, or put them behind a paywall or a signup form. They’re free here because the manufacturers publish them free.
